And look what we have here! A few seconds after the we spotted the vintage ride, a sleek, black and HUGE Hummer Jeep followed the vehicle queue.
While Myke and I were traversing along Ayala Ave. last week, we happen to spot this vintage car coming out of the Manila Peninsula. It had a bouquet of flowers handing on to its front hood indicating that it was used as a bridal car. Aahhh.. a wedding. Thinking of the word invokes a lot of memories from our own journey to the altar. The preparations, bookings, deadlines, payments and fittings. Flowers, gowns, confettis and camera flashes. *grin* And look what we have here! A few seconds after the we spotted the vintage ride, a sleek, black and HUGE Hummer Jeep followed the vehicle queue. Now that vintage and modern at the same time! :)

Finally! I had graduated from the first trimester of my pregnancy so I feel less nauseous and am now a bit more energetic. That is why I haven't been much active in blogging this past months. I'm not complaining though. Despite the challenges physically, Myke and I are both excited and eager in anticipation for our baby :) So expect that for my entries, you'll read about our baby's development and day-today living of soon-to-be parents :) My Style Diaries might feature more of maternity fashion. But it's still the same me that you'll read about and I hope that you'd still check my site for updates. Ciao! Myke and I had been living off karinderia-bought ulam for the past months because of my pregnancy symptoms. Now that I am able to stay in the kitchen again, I decided to experiment with some of the fish fillets in our fridge. I am happy to report though that the experiment was a success and my hubby loved it :) Fish Lumpia Ingredients: 1k. cream dory fillets 2 medium sized carrots, minced 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 onion, minced 1 egg 1/2 sachet of Maggi Magic Sarap (optional) lumpia wrappers salt and pepper, to taste Procedure: 1. Boil the fish, season water with a bit of salt. Once cooked, cool and then flake the fish meat using a fork. 2. Combine carrots, fish meat, garlic and onions. Season with salt and pepper or use half a sachet of Maggi Magic Sarap. Mix well. 3. If you find your filling too dry, add the egg into the mixture. 4. Spoon filling onto the lumpia wrappers and roll. Seal edges with a bit of water. 5. Fry the lumpia until golden brown. Serve while still hot. You could serve this with catsup or a sweet and sour dipping sauce. I was able to make about 21 pieces of lumpia from the same number of ingredients listed above. Since we couldn't consume all of it in one meal, I'd put the pre-wrapped lumpia in an air-tight container and stored it in the fridge for times that we are craving for lumpia or are simply lazy to cook. He he he :P We had a chance to visit Father Pio's chapel in Libis upon urging of my mother-in-law. She wanted me to pay a visit since it is said that there were cases of miraculous healings of devotees. We weren't able to attend mass (we were late due to the horrendous traffic) and instead said our prayers and lighted some candles for our personal intentions. We then headed to Eastwood to have some dinner at Pasto. Dinner was good and really filling. We especially enjoyed their Pizza Enslata which was spread with pesto and the toppings were salad greens :) We then dropped by Banapple at Katipunan on the way home to indulge on some desserts. Talk about stuffing ourselves full :P That's our baby at 8 weeks, 5 days. Yes, Myke and I will soon be mommy and daddy! :)
As soon as two red lines appeared on the home pregnancy kit that I've used, I had mixed emotions. Happy and excited that we were blessed to have a baby and yet I was a bit fearful especially after I had my miscarriage. So when I was lying on the bed and waiting for the sight of our baby during my ultrasound, I was a bit apprehensive. But once we saw the baby, we were relieved that the baby's ok. Hearing the baby's heartbeat for the very first time was a truly unforgettable experience. I'll say it was just a beautiful sound :) These are not freckles. If they are, then I think I can't do a "mestiza" look. :P I got these when one evening last week, I felt nauseous and just had to throw up. After which, hubby had commented that my face had gotten all red. I though it was kinda like a red as in flushed but no, I had gotten these red spots all over my face. :( I was scared that it might be an allergic reaction so I immediately visited our company clinic the very next day. This was the last dessert I made before hubby took to dieting. I still have a few stocks in the kitchen cabinet to make a few more desserts but I'm pacing myself since Myke refuses to eat carbs and sweets. If I would happen to cook food more than the usual, it's up to (poor) me to eat it all up. :( Unless perhaps it's blueberry cheesecake which is Myke's favorite. He he.
Anyway, I made this because I know Myke loves Oreos. But instead of just layering the grahams, I adopted the crumbly crust that I used to make the Mango Royale. It seemed that cravings for saccharine typically associated with girls is quite the opposite for hubby and I.
I don't really like sodas, chocolates, doughnuts.. basically anything sweet with the exception though to ice cream. But I'm still quite choosy with ice cream flavors. Anyway, Myke on the other hand likes chocolates, sodas, cakes, doughtnuts. (Ugh. Thinking of them makes my teeth ache already.) And confronting him and basically banning him access to the sweets at our pantry usually turns into a debate - with him ending up with the silly grin on his face while wiping chocolate smudges off his chin and me in the sofa seething. Nakakainis makipagtalo sa matigas ang ulo. I know my MIL (mother-in-law) had been keeping watch of Myke's eating habits. And she always reminds me to be conscious of what I put on the dining table cos Myke sometimes would just be a total binger. She wanted me to prepare more healthy food choices and so, she asked me to come with her to a seminar last Sunday to be more educated on the subject of healthy eating. The seminar was entitled "Prevention and Reversal of Heart Disease" that was spearheaded by the NeedHealth Ministries. The seminar wasn't too much of a bore. There were lectures on healthy eating choices - benefits of drinking water, eating less animal-sourced products and there was also cooking demo on how to prepare vegetarian dishes. For a fee, you could also enjoy a vegetarian buffet lunch which was composed of red rice, black beans, kidney beans, camote tops and vegetarian tocino. There was also boiled bananas, some green mangoes and singkamas with vegetarian bagoong. Our plans to play for badminton today fell through so hubby and I decided to go malling instead. It has been a while since he and I watched a movie at the cinema and we also had some shopping to do anyway. Turned out that we won't be seeing any movies - he didn't like any of the films which are currently showing. He wanted to watch "Sanctum" in 3D which unfortunately, wasn't available in Robinson's Manila. So we ended up walking around the mall and buying stuff. We spent quite some time at the Japan Home Center. I think it was Myke's first time to go into their store :) One of the things we bought are these furniture 'socks'. You put them around the legs of your tables, chairs etc. para di siya masyado mapudpod sa kakahila. Ok rin siya lalo na if you're living in an apartment because the 'socks' muffle the thudding and scraping sounds of the legs against the floor. Di mo na mabubulabog ang kapitbahay mo sa baba :P Hubby took a leave today to take care of me (how sweet is that? :P) especially after my accident yesterday. We decided to go to our clinic after lunch today for post-accident assessment.
We were referred to a physical therapist at St. Luke's. After a few tests, the nice doc said everything is normal, no need for CT scan :) I guess you could say that my brain is still intact. Thank God! He he. She did advised me to take therapy sessions to relieve the tension on my neck. So I'm scheduled to have 6 PT sessions probably in the next two weeks. Myke and I were both famished (having skipped lunch because we ate a late breakfast) by the time we were done - having gone back and forth to our company clinic to get the necessary papers for the referrals. After the check-ups, we had to drop by Ongpin to have some of my jewelries cleaned and so we decided to have our (uber) late lunch/early supper at David's Tea House at T. Mapua. |
